About the Salesian Sisters

The Salesian Sisters were founded by St. John Bosco in 1872. Our main mission in life is the education and evangelisation of young people.

We are a world wide congregation of over 14,000 Sisters working in 89 countries. We work throughout the UK in schools, parishes, pastoral centres, youth clubs and in various other ministries. Our service to young people is aimed at developing their gifts and skills, challenging individuals to explore personal values and beliefs. We encourage young people to recognise and develop their own potential, to move towards active citizenship in their own community and to explore issues relating to environment, culture and globalisation.
